We work with Government departments, agencies, other national bodies and strategic, commercial suppliers to the public sector…

Put simply, we believe in the power of Government to positively impact the lives of citizens, the cohesion of communities, and the performance and growth prospects of businesses of all sizes.

We believe that Governments can, and should, work brilliantly with social and private sector suppliers to shape and deliver services which create exceptional public service outcomes.

We know that collaboration between public and private sectors can be challenging. That’s why we focus so much of our capability, and energy, on making that interface work better for the public good.

Our team includes colleagues who have worked at senior levels in departments and agencies, and in strategic suppliers - including the nation’s leading business process outsource (BPO) organisations. That range of experience enables us to help clients develop deliverable policy and support excellence in execution.

Our work with Government clients is typically focussed on translating policy imperatives into exceptional services…

Most of our work in central Government leverages our expertise, insight and relationships at the intersection between public and private sectors. We believe that this is the space where, too often, sound policies go awry. Our work with Government clients includes:

Policymaking: leveraging our understanding of sector dynamics, supply chains and delivery risks to provide expert input to the policymaking process - helping colleagues craft robust, astutely costed and deliverable policies that will create the intended public service outcomes.

Service design: working with policy colleagues to translate policy positions into programme specifications, following best practice methods for public service design including e.g. consultation with users and prospective suppliers, and balancing specification of inputs vs outputs and outcomes.

Commissioning: often having supported the service design process, working with colleagues to conduct soft market engagement exercises, prepare detailed statements of requirements, determine optimal procurement mechanisms, and support procurements processes which secure optimal outcomes.

Service delivery: working on an embedded basis to mobilise and deliver services and programmes direct from Government, e.g. where time is acutely of the essence, or where colleagues wish to retain more control over the service than would be possible through an outsource arrangement.

Assurance: providing colleagues with expert, external and objective advice on the performance, issues, risks and opportunities associated with a given live service or programme - and supporting whatever improvement actions are agreed as a result of that appraisal.

Our work with suppliers to the public sector spans all stages in the strategic sales process, from upstream engagement to mobilisation and delivery…

We believe passionately in the merits of suppliers working strategically to create, shape, and acquire contracts that will enable them to deliver exceptional public services whilst securing the required commercial returns.

To that end, we work with clients at each stage in the sales cycle including:

Creating and identifying opportunities: conducting politically astute market research and analysis to identify thematic areas, target organisations and specific deal opportunities - so that you can take considered decisions on investment, prioritisation and growth. Through these engagements, we straightforwardly grow our clients’ pipelines.

Upstream engagement and shaping: devising and helping our clients to deliver sophisticated upstream engagement plans which enable you to understand and influence opportunities well before formal procurement processes commence. Through these engagements, we boost clients’ market positioning, client relationships and win credibility.

Capture planning and preparation: preparing capture plans which reflect our market, client and deal insights; tease out your overall solution, partnership options, innovation opportunities and differentiators. We can also help you realise that capture plan, working on an embedded basis to directly and materially impact your win probability.

Deal leadership and solution: working on an embedded, or advisory basis, to help you win. Our team includes colleagues who know how to win major deals - whether working as overall sales lead, solution director, bid director, innovation lead, business analyst and / or partnership lead. Adding our expertise at bid stage helps cement gains made in capture.

Mobilisation and delivery: our focus on outcomes, and wider programme and operational leadership capability, mean that we can also help you transition, mobilise and deliver services, including by taking ownership of implementation work packages on a managed service basis.
